What will my child learn?
Our curriculum, Te Whāriki endorsed by the Ministry of Education is founded on the belief that we want ‘children to grow up as confident and competent learners and communicators, healthy in mind, body and spirit, secure in their sense of belonging and in the knowledge that they make a valued contribution to society’. The curriculum reflects the cultural heritage of both partners to Te Tiriti o Waitangi.- The teachers carefully observe children at work and play to identify strengths; skills, behaviours and interests, then plan appropriately.
- Your child/children learn many life and relationship skills as they become part of the centre family.
- Assessment is credit based and focuses on children’s strengths, interests and skills. Each child has an individual profile, which provides a rich, detailed picture of children’s efforts, progress and achievements. The profiles help teachers and family better understand the individual child, their growth and individual uniqueness and guide future learning opportunities. Profiles are available to parents/whānau to view at anytime and children take their profiles when they leave kindergarten and go on to school.
