How do I choose a Kindergarten?
Unlike schools our Kindergartens are not zoned and therefore you can enrol your child at the Kindergarten of your choice. It is a good idea to visit several of our kindergartens, talk with the staff and experience the centre in action before you decide which best suits your child and family needs. What age should I enrol my child at Kindergarten?
At the age of 2 your child is eligible to be enrolled at a kindergarten.
When will my child start Kindergarten?
The age that your child starts kindergarten will differ across each kindergarten as children are started in age order. When enrolling your child at a Kindergarten the staff will inform you of an approximate starting date for your child.
How much will it cost me?
Kindergartens Waikato provides 20 hours free early childhood education per week to children aged 3 and 4 years. Click here to learn more about the 20 free hours. Kindergarten staff will be happy to talk with you about how you can access your free hours.
All Kindergartens charge a mandatory fee of $2.90 plus GST per hour for any hours not covered by your Free Hours.
What hours will my child attend Kindergarten?
The majority of our Kindergartens offer either a morning session, an afternoon session or a school day session (6 hours). Session start and finish times vary between Kindergartens.
What will my child need to take to Kindergarten?
- small backpack or bag
- a change of clothes
- a sun hat
- small, healthy snack and lunch if your child will be attending a 4-6 hour session
How do I enrol my child?
You can either email or phone your preferred Kindergarten directly through our Kindergarten list or visit the Kindergarten to complete an enrolment pack. Alternatively click here for an Enrolment Request.
Further Information
When enrolling your child you will receive an enrolment pack from the Kindergarten with lots of extra information about the Centre. Staff are always happy to answer any questions you may have.
